Apple Tree Extension

We have been working up designs for a new extension in Putney for some clients whose brief was centred around sustainability, the use of ecologically friendly materials and a quick build time. We are going to be using an expressed glulam frame wrapped in a thick layer of insulation and finished off with beautiful oak shingle cladding.

The glazing is expressed as a kinked protrusion with painted frames and vertical T&G panneling and this will be painted bright red, which alongside the weathered oak cladding will reflect the colours of the old apple tree in the garden. We hope it’s going to be a very special project!

Little Venice Narrowboat Project Finally Finished!

We are so happy that our narrowboat project in Little Venice is finally completed and photographed by the lovely Veronica Rodriguez. This was a luxury fit-out of a narrowboat on the exclusive moorings in Little Venice for a client who runs a business in Spain to use when he is in London on his regular work trips. The brief he gave us was “create a 5 Star boutique hotel room on the water” and that’s what we have delivered. The interiors ARE pretty gorgeous…

Planning Granted in Sydenham

We are are happy to report we have received planning consent from the London Borough of Lewisham for a new extension in Sydenham.

Our terracotta tile and Clayworks rendered extensions sit in a large suburban garden like two pavillions along with with a new terrace, planters and a water feature that all help the new interventions blend into and become part of the landscaping.

Eyemouth Competition

Up Architects were recently shortlisted along with two other design teams for our competition entry for the new visitors centre and market on the harbour at Eyemouth in Scotland. The project involved the regneration and re-imagiing of the harbourside into a new events venue, daily food market and a place to exhibit the culture and history of the area.

We designed a wave-like timber roof with a continuous mural showing marine life to be hand painted by Good Wives and Warriors and the resulting building would be a sustainably built and affordable long term community asset for this small fishing town.
