This project involved the remodelling, refurbishment and extension of a Grade II* listed building in Chelsea that was purpose built as studios for artists, and was home to several famous artists including Whistler and John Singer Sergeant.
Design of this project was led by Sally Mackereth of Studio Mackereth. Sally’s client was a property developer who brings luxury one-off properties to the market and who wanted something truly unique for this project.
This was a great example of how fantastic old buildings can be updated for modern use whilst retaining their individual character and history. The scheme included a basement extension that added 90m2 of additional space, completely concealed under a new landscaping design by Chris Moss Landscapes.
Distinctly individual and bespoke interiors like this need a contractor who has an uncompromising and heartfelt dedication to workmanship; and this was displayed by Cumberland Construction under the sharp eyes of Jerry Donovan - so many thanks to him and all his team.
